Biographical Information
Dr Natalie Berg is a speech pathologist and lecturer in the School of Allied Health, Faculty of Health Sciences.
In May 2013, following almost a decade of clinical practice within NSW Health, Natalie returned to an academic role on the MacKillop Campus, joining an industrious team of expert speech pathologists to deliver the national program, Bachelor of Speech Pathology.  
 
In 2011, Natalie completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Communication Sciences and Disorders). Natalie’s doctoral research utilised the qualitative research methodology of grounded theory to explore the perceptions of nursing home care for younger people with disabilities.

Research
Natalie is currently working within a multidisciplinary team of academics and clinicians to develop, implement and evaluate a pedagogical model to promote interprofessional learning and practice capabilities for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
 
Natalie is also involved in the systematic review of literature relevant to two topics of her interest; community participation for adults with disability; models of supervision for undergraduate allied health students undertaking external professional practice placements. 
Interests
 
Natalie’s research interests focus on the lived experiences of adults with communication difficulties. Natalie is particularly interested in the use of qualitative enquiry to explore issues that impact on the health, wellbeing and quality of life of adults with communication difficulties.
 
Natalie's specific research interest involves the experiences of younger adults with disabilities living in nursing homes. With recent plans by governments to reform funding, accommodation and care options for younger adults with disabilities, Natalie is particularly interested in research that will inform future policy and service development for this group of younger people.
 
Natalie is an experienced speech pathologist and passionate clinical educator in the area of adult communication and swallowing disorders. Natalie is interested in research that investigates the efficacy of clinical education practices in speech pathology.
